A Cheshire Christmas by Ian Lloyd

Following the successful Christmas Lunch at the Old Spot on 2nd December, the club met on Monday 9th December for the much anticipated Christmas Demonstration.

82 members and 23 visitors filled the Pavilion and were spellbound with Ian’s floral displays.  Ian received a well deserved standing ovation, whilst we all had our fingers crossed that we would win a raffle prize.

Thanks to President Rosemary Stammers for her Foyer Flowers, Paula Harper for her Vote of Thanks, Elizabeth Sales for her mince pies and all the volunteers that helped stage this busy demonstration.

A November Afternoon with Pam Lewis

71 members and their visitors were delighted to welcome club favourite Pam Lewis back to Cheltenham with her “Box Clever” demonstration.  Pam received a well deserved standing ovation after entertaining everybody with her tales of gardens, ducks and life in general.  The lucky raffle winners were able to take all arrangements home complete with their boxes, including the F&M Hamper!  Thanks to Maureen Hazel for her enthusiastic vote of thanks and Judith Dawes for her colourful foyer flowers.  Thanks to all the volunteers who helped at the meeting particularly in the absence of 2 key committee members due to ill health – the club wishes them both a speedy recovery.

The club hopes to organise a trip out next Summer to visit Pam’s spectacular Wiltshire garden.

October Meeting

75 members and 8 visitors attended this busy meeting.

The meeting started with the judging of the floral competition “Happiness Is……”

the novice class was won by Sally Demeur for her “ Celebrations”, the Intermediate Class winners were Di Roe “Happiness is Flower Arranging”, (judges choice), and Judith Daws “Happiness is Gin”, (members vote), thanks to everybody who entered.

The club was then entertained by Demonstrator – Catherine Brown as she took us through some of the 50 things that make you happy.  Thanks go to Sue Blakey for her vote of thanks and Doreen Parsons for her Foyer Flowers.

Thank you to all volunteers who helped the committee run the meeting.

September Meeting

75 members and 6 visitors attended the September meeting.  Chairman Caroline welcomed everybody back from the Summer Break, the club was particularly pleased that with Septembers’ new members the club membership is back to 100!
The Club was delighted to see the return of demonstrator Sally Taylor with her demonstration “Sallying Forth Once More”, Sally thoroughly entertained her audience with her glorious arrangements and tales of life.  After the demonstration, long term member Pat Jacques was presented with a card and gift in celebration of her forthcoming “big” birthday and in recognition of everything that she contributes to the club.  Thanks to all volunteers and helpers, especially Paula Harper for her foyer flowers and Rosemary Stammers for her vote of thanks.

“Serendipity” by Delyth Price

75 members and 7 visitors gave Delyth a well deserved standing ovation.  She thoroughly entertained her audience with her beautiful arrangements, her tales of life on the farm and her travels as a demonstrator.

1954 to 2024 70th Anniversary Celebrations

88 members, visitors and friends of the club celebrated the 70th Anniversary at the Pavilion on Monday 3rd June.

The afternoon started with a stunning demonstration by National Demonstrator Nick Grounds, Nick received a standing ovation from the club for his imaginative creations. Janice Cooke gave a heartfelt vote of thanks, and Margaret Taylor praised Chairman Caroline and her committee for steering the Club through the recent changes.

Foyer Flowers were created by member Pat Jacques to represent both 1954 and 2024.

The demonstration was followed by a delicious afternoon tea, organised by committee member Janet Hodges through “Cotswold Cakes & Bakes”.

The committee would like to thank everybody who worked to make this event a success.
